Snow Leopard in Leh Ladakh

When was the last time you tried something for the first time? To see the majestic snow leopard slowly treading with soft paws in the white snow of Ladakh is any adventure enthusiasts dream. To feel the wild, in all of its glory, to feel on the edge and be in close contact with nature’s bad cat is a rare and privileged sight. The ideal time for spotting snow leopard is between October and March.

These snow leopards are spotted throughout the Hemis National Park, and in Sham area west of Leh the famous spots are Ney Phu, UlePhu, and hills of Skindyang village. Beside Snow Leopard there is always a good chance of spotting many other famous and rare animals like “Nyan” or “Tinetan Argali”,(Ovisammon); Himalayan blue sheep, called “Bharal” or “Napo”, (Pseudoisnayaur); Uriel, locally called “Shapo” (Ovisorientalis), Asiatic ibex Skin(Capra sibirica), and among the predators are Red Fox, Tibetan Wolf, Lynx, Pallas Cat, and many others.
